About Rock and Roll Sports

Rock ‘n’ Roll Sports is the hardcore outdoor store where serious riders go for bike repair. We’ve been tuning bikes, gearing up climbers, and outfitting skiers in the Gunnison Valley since 1992. No one is better prepared to help you get to the climbing routes- beginner or epic- that you’ve been looking for.

We've got more than just good advice and local knowledge to offer--we carry the best brands to get you equipped to go outside and play. We carry high-quality bike lines such as Yeti, Giant, Titus, Moots, Gary Fisher, Bianchi, Phat Cycles and more. In the winter, we offer K2, Atomic, Karhu, Garmont, Scarpa, Dynafit and Rossignol ski equipment. No matter what the season, we offer the best clothing and outerwear by Montbell, Pearl Izumi, PrAna, Craft, Marmot, and The North Face. As the Gunnison Valley's only fully-stocked climbing shop, we provide equipment for any kind of climbing (traditional, sport, bouldering, aid, ice, mountaineering, etc.) by brands like Black Diamond, Petzl, Metolius, C.A.M.P., Grivel, LaSportiva, Five Ten and many more.

We're proud to be Gunnison’s #1 shop for skiing, biking, climbing, mountaineering, telemark, nordic, and AT gear. Ask any outdoor enthusiast in the valley where to go for quality goods and advice and they’ll point you to Buddy Bear
.

Dave "Buddy Bear" Meyer – President

Dave is known around town as the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He can also back that enthusiasm up with 30 years of experience as a bike mechanic, rider and racer. His vast technical knowledge and creativity have earned him a reputation as one of the valley's best wrenches. He also still finds time to be active in the riding and skiing communities, often volunteering to set track for nordic skiing or helping a local bike racer prepare for an event.

* Gunnison’s first top 10 NORBA pro
* Over 30 years of experience riding in the Gunnison Valley
* Initiated the Rage in the Sage in 1985 as a NORBA classic race

* If he’s not in the shop tuning your bike or skis, he’s probably out riding or skiing!

Kristen Dirksen - General Manager

kristen
Kristen is a Gunni Local, and has been riding and skiing here forever. You'll find her out on the trail at Harman's rocks or shredding the epic powder of the Crested Butte Backcountry. She rides mostly cross country and is looking forward to trying out our new sick 2009 bikes, like the Yeti 575, and ASR as well as the Brand New Giant Anthem X2 which is 4 & 4 and only weighs 25 pounds...!

Her favorite trails include 401 in Crested Butte, the Reno Divide, Flag, Bear, Dead Man's Loop up Cement Creek, Dr.'s Park up Spring Creek and of course all the amazing Single Track at Hartman's Rock's!!

In the winter, you can find her on the mountain at Crested Butte Resort or in the amazing Backcountry that our valley has to offer. She ski's a pair of Volkl Aura's and K2 Miss Baker's in the backcountry!

Brian Chapel - Bike Mechanic

Brian came here to go to school at Western State College and to ride on Western's Gravity team. You can find him haulin' down the trail on his Yeti 575, or shreading fresh powder in crested butte. He is no stranger to the best trails and best rides in the valley, so don't hesitate to pick his mind when it comes to a good ride. He defiantly knows his way around in our repair shop and can pretty much fix whatever you throw at him. We defiantly raise the bar when it comes to our bike mechanics. Brian's super excited to try out our new tele ski's for winter including a pair of sick Volkl Polar Bears which is our newest line of skis!
